The Museum

The Palace of Archaeology and History hosts a fascinating exhibition of replicas of ancient epigraphic and sculptural testimonies of the territory, from the Roman age to the 17th century. The testimony of the “ancient stones” gives an account of some fundamental steps in the organization of the countryside: the denomination of places, uses and rights, rules and structures of the ownership and the exploitation of land and water. The reconstruction is therefore entrusted to the traces engraved on the stone, with which Antiquity, Municipalities, the Empire, great families and individuals claimed powers and rights over the places, or expressed their prestige and their memory.
